An independent platform for amateur astronomy and astrophotography.
Deep Sky Journal is an independent publication dedicated to amateur astronomy, astrophotography, and the science of the deep universe. Founded in 2024, this site documents observations from various locations across Europe.
Our focus is on objects beyond the solar system — nebulae, star clusters, and galaxies — collectively known as "deep sky objects." We document imaging sessions, equipment choices, and processing techniques for fellow enthusiasts.
Image data from NASA and ESA/Hubble is used under public domain and Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY 4.0) licenses where applicable. Credit is given on each image page.
Primary imaging setup: 80mm f/6 apochromatic refractor, Sky-Watcher EQ6-R Pro mount, ZWO ASI2600MM Pro monochrome camera with LRGB and narrowband filter set.
Secondary setup for planetary work: 200mm f/5 Newtonian on a motorized alt-azimuth mount, ZWO ASI224MC high-speed camera.
